  SHORT BIO

Seattle-based saxophonist Dave Anderson has emerged as an active performer on the music scene.

Originally from Minnesota, before residing in New York City and moving to Seattle in 2005, Dave has performed around North America with notable jazz musicians including Ryan Kisor, Clarence Penn, Gene Bertoncini, Michael Moore, Jim McNeely, Julian Priester, Jay Thomas, Matt Wilson, Craig Taborn, Clark Terry and Mel Torme. For over a decade, Dave was inactive as a musician while learning to manage lower abdominal pain caused by playing the saxophone.

Performing on alto, soprano & tenor saxophones, and now also on piano, Dave is known for a clear and individual sound, and for a savvy musical intelligence as an improviser. Although he plays in a modern style, Dave has earned accolades from jazz legends including Ray Brown and Clark Terry. Currently performing and recording with the Dave Anderson Quartet, The Gilbert/Garcia Group, the JB/DA duo with guitarist James Baumgart, and other groups, Dave has put increasing focus on composing original music for jazz performance.
